We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Junior Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Lonestar Concrete. This position supports our experienced mechanic in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines and other components in our fleet of mixer trucks and haul trucks. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has basic mechanical skills, and is committed to safety and quality work. This role offers hands-on training and growth opportunities in diesel mechanics. RESPONSIBILITIES •Assist senior mechanic in inspecting anddiagnosing issues in diesel engines and related vehicle components •Perform routine preventative maintenancetasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and tireinspections under supervision •Use diagnostic tools with guidance toidentify vehicle issues and learn troubleshooting techniques •Maintain accurate records of tasksperformed and document work as instructed •Follow company safety protocols and OSHA regulations, including proper use of protective gear •Keep shop tools, equipment, and workareas clean and organized •Work collaboratively with mechanics,drivers, and other personnel, learning from experienced team members EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE •0–2 years of experience in automotiveor diesel mechanics (e.g., internships, shop work, or hobbyist experience)preferred; no formal experience required•High school diploma or equivalent;enrollment in or completion of a technical/trade school program is a plus •Basic knowledge of diesel engines andvehicle systems; willingness to learn is essential•Familiarity with basic tools and ability tolearn diagnostic tools with training•Valid driver’s license; CDL is notrequired but a plus •Good physical condition with theability to lift moderate weight (e.g., up to 50 lbs) and work in various positions •Strong attention to detail, eagerness tolearn, and problem-solving mindset •Good communication skills and abilityto work as part of a team |
