We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Junior Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Lonestar Concrete. This position supports our experienced mechanic in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines and other components in our fleet of mixer trucks and haul trucks. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has basic mechanical skills, and is committed to safety and quality work. This role offers hands-on training and growth opportunities in diesel mechanics.

 - Assist senior mechanic in inspecting and diagnosing issues in diesel engines and related vehicle components

 - Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and tire inspections under supervision

 - Use diagnostic tools with guidance to identify vehicle issues and learn troubleshooting techniques

 - Maintain accurate records of tasks performed and document work as instructed

 - Follow company safety protocols and OSHA regulations, including proper use of protective gear

 - Keep shop tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized

 - Work collaboratively with mechanics, drivers, and other personnel, learning from experienced team members

 - High school diploma or equivalent; enrollment in or completion of a technical/trade school program is a plus

 - 0–2 years of experience in automotive or diesel mechanics (e.g., internships, shop work, or hobbyist experience) preferred; no formal experience         required

 - Basic knowledge of diesel engines and vehicle systems; willingness to learn is essential

 - Familiarity with basic tools and ability to learn diagnostic tools with training

 - Valid driver’s license; CDL is not required but a plus

 - Good physical condition with the ability to lift moderate weight (e.g., up to 50 lbs) and work in various positions  

 - Strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and problem-solving mindset

 - Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

This position involves standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods in a garage or shop environment. You will be exposed to heat, noise, dust, and fumes. Protective gear (e.g., safety glasses, gloves) may be required and will be provided.
